The story of the title

Chris takes the title

Chris clearly understood that when faced with mounds, water, and a distant pin at Chalgrave Manor’s so-called 'Precision Hole', it pays to keep things neat and tidy. With a measured shot settling 8 feet from the cup on Hole 7, Chris clinched Nearest Pin, politely ignoring the hazards that usually gobble up golf balls and egos. Gal’s 13-foot showing was nothing to sneeze at, but alas, no victory speech offered from the rear valley today.

How to play it

Precision to centre/right is key—steer clear of both water and mounded hazards. Miss long and a recovery from the rear valley is difficult.

Also contested hereHole 5Nearest Pin - Hole 5. A shallow green that slopes both front to back and left to right—avoid putting from the left side of the green downhill. The tricky contours here make an accurate tee shot essential. Also contested hereHole 9Longest Drive. The longest hole on the course and a monster test of power and placement. The second shot is key: stay left to open the angle, or go right and you face a sideways, sloping lie into a green surrounded by trees. On a good line—down the left—you can still be left with a demanding third and a tight, precise green entry. Also contested hereHole 10Nearest Pin - Hole 10. Chalgrave’s signature: a short par‑3 completely across water to a severely sloping green. Missing the right‑side, below the flag can leave you with a downhill or sidehill putt that is anything but a “gimme.” Keeping the ball low and to the right yields the best chance at a two-putt or better.
